This past year my granddaughter, who is on the high end of the autism spectrum, and has severe learning disabilities, has been bullied at school.
It has been addressed on several occasions, and worked for short periods of time.
Recently there was an incidence that was put on a social media site. My granddaughter was so distraught that she couldn’t go to school the next day.
I am really hoping that now there is concrete evidence of it, that the school will have ‘No tolerance’ for this type of behavior.
Having autism is difficult for the whole family, but having to deal with situations like this, makes it so much worse.
I just felt that if this helps one family, I am glad I wrote it. I usually keep all of this inside me.

We as humans can be so unkind to each other. The thing is none of us are perfect, so we should be all mindful of that. Some of us may have issues that can be seen, while others may have other issues that can’t be seen. None the less we are all flawed in some way. So very sorry to hear about the insensitive treatment of your granddaughter.

My granddaughter has autism and is non-verbal. I hope no one bullies her, but she can’t tell us if they do.

I will never understand why parents allow their children to do this. My parents would have whipped the daylights out of me and I never allowed my son to behave in this manner. The problem is the parents. I’m so sorry that you are going through this.

So sorry to hear about the horrible experience your granddaughter went through Susie 😢With your love and support, she’ll be able to heal from this awful experience. I went through bullying myself as a teen, and through counseling and walking out the pain, I’ve been able to regain a sense of self. All the best 🤗🤗🤗

I hope the bullying problem with your granddaughter gets addressed. You’re right, it shouldn’t be tolerated by schools or adults. They need to get the parents involved and address it. I’m sorry to hear this and hope things get better soon.

I’m so sorry your granddaughter has had to go through all of this. Bullying certainly is not acceptable, and I can appreciate that with autism it makes it that much more painful to deal with. I do hope the school react appropriately because your granddaughter deserves a positive experience at school, not marred by the nightmare of bullies and despicable behaviour. I think you’ve done well posting about this, it’s such an important thing to ‘get out’ and it’s better to air it than keep it inside. I experienced bullying during highschool and it had a long-lasting impact that I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but love and support from family should help so I’m glad she has you all there for her. xx

The school says it will do x, y, and z, but unfortunately it doesn’t happen. Sorry you went through it too.

I’m so sorry to hear that your granddaughter has to deal with this. Its a painful thing when humans cant be kind to one another. And for young kids it’s obviously not an easy thing to handle but this article I found has helped a ton with this topic.

With her autism she probably will be. Teachers need to keep it in check.
