Anyone done their taxes in the U.S. yet?

I always know that the taxes we pay in England are allowed as a credit here in the states.  With our married deductions, and extra for my husband’s age, we may pay a few dollars here, but this year I have no idea what will happen.

Being the first year with the new taxation system, it looks as if we might be worse off, taking the standard deductions, and not itemizing.

We do have an accountant, and I am getting paperwork ready for our appointment next month.

Is it just me, or are the lower income filers going to pay more in tax?

  1. I’m putting it off as usual, but lots of folks are complaining. I think it’s because they are used to getting refunds and may not now because less money has been taken out unless they chose to send in more during the year.

  2. Yes, type of income coming in and whether it is taxable or not. Then amount of income and tax bracket you are in. I filed my children’s taxes for them a few times, but then I taught them how to file their own.
