Changing up my protein shakes all the time.

I am a very thrifty person, having been born just after the war in England, so always find a way of using up any leftovers.

Seedless grapes have only been 99 cents a pound for the past month or more, so as well as adding banana to my shakes, the older, wrinkly grapes have been going into my shakes.  This way I don’t throw them out.

I was lucky enough to receive a 44 ounce bag of pecan halves at a discount, and wondered how I could use them.  You have probably guessed that half a dozen go into my shakes.  This is a great way for me to have them, as I am still struggling with hard food, after my surgery.

I buy fruits in season, and anything else that is on offer, that will benefit my body, after a 2 hour workout.

French vanilla whey protein, electrolytes, a banana, and pecans.

  1. Waste not, want not. As my Grandmother would always say! Moving to the US from the UK it was shocking going to an all you can eat buffet, and see people taking huge plates of food, eating 3 bites, and going back for another plate of food. It was just one of big culture shocks coming to live across the pond. As I have gotten older I truly appreciate that British mentality of conservation and thriftiness that has been passed down.

  2. I use a protein powder and a banana or strawberries or applesauce and whiz it up with almond milk or oat milk ( I can’t tolerate dairy hence the nut and oat milks)

  3. This sounds like a delicious protein shake! I really love putting nuts into my shakes. Lately sunflower seeds have been my fav (I guess that is a seed rather than a nut) I want to get a blender so that I can start making more smoothies and make use of the seasonal fruits. I hope you will have a wonderful week!
