Have social security screwed up or my HMO.

I only worked in the states for 10 years, which entitled me to medicare, and social security.  My money is a pittance, but to get medicare was my aim.

I have an H.M.O. so last year my social security was $152.  They deducted $7.50 for medicare, which left me $145 a month.

I just received details for 2,020, and it went up to $154.  The deductions are $114.60, which leaves me $40 a month social security.  I don’t know whether it is my H.M.O. that didn’t enter the correct paperwork for me, or whether it is the social security department.

So now it will be lots of phone calls to find out.  It’s not much, but I would like to see at least a hundred dollars a month.

  1. Nope, especially when you’re trying the old ‘blood from a stone’ routine of getting money you’re owed from the government (in any country) … and banks, and any corporate entity. I wish you much luck and patience.

  2. No matter who it is that is to blame, I feel sure they’ll say it’s “just a glitch in the system”.
In truth it is humans who cause ‘glitches in the systems’. The computer only spits out
what is fed into it. If you made that kind of error they would charge you with fraud.
Sometimes it feels like the system just doesn’t work. I hope it is an issue that is quickly
remedied. Good luck and God Bless!
