As mentioned in previous posts, I have been doing my best each day to motivate my husband to get out of the recliner, and go to the gym to socialize.
Today was an earlier start, as I was teaching my boxing class for senior ladies. I wasn’t going to push him to come, so suggested that I phone him as soon as we were finished, and then drive home to get him.
I called, and he said that he didn’t want to go to the gym. He didn’t have a sugar low today, but said that he didn’t feel up to it. I did everything I could on the phone to persuade him, but he was insistent. It’s less than a mile from one gym to the next so I drove there. Everyone was concerned about him, as they know he hasn’t been himself for a week or more.
I phoned him before my boxing with my trainer, which is only 2 streets away from the 2nd gym, and the line was busy. It was too far to go home, but thought that he was probably talking to a ‘robo’ call.
The second my 30 minute boxing was over, I phoned again. It the ten minutes it took me to get home, I phoned 13 times, and the line was busy. I was going crazy by the time I drove into the garage. I looked through the window, and there he was reclining in his chair, watching the television.
I asked him if he was on the phone, as I tried before my boxing, and continually after. I checked on 1 phone, and it said ‘line in use’. I couldn’t find the other one, and when I did it was still in use after 1 hour and 40 minutes. I was so emotional but tried not to show it, as he is so forgetful.
I don’t want to give up my volunteering to teach boxing, but will seriously have to think about it if situations like this happen.
He still said that he didn’t feel good, but I was determined that he wasn’t going to look at the 4 walls for 24 hours, so we went out for lunch.
Blood work Tuesday, and the doctor the following Tuesday. Thank goodness.
