I started the process on Christmas Eve, phoning the doctor’s office about a walker with brakes, and a seat for hubby. It just kept ringing, so I figured I would phone after Christmas. I phoned, and each time it went to, leave a message. This I did, and no one got back to me in the time between Christmas and New Year.
So at the beginning of the month I finally got to talk to someone at the practice. I got a voicemail from them on January 4th to say that it had been sent.
Last week I phoned Optimum on hubby’s behalf, and asked where we were with the process, she told me that it could take up to 14 days. I asked if it could be a.s.a.p. as hubby is such a fall risk.
I still haven’t heard anything so have spent the past hour, phoning Optimum, and getting a very helpful lady, who had nothing on file about the request, or my phone call. This really frustrated me. She said that she would sort it out for me. She phoned my doctor’s office twice, and got an answer machine. She then asked me exactly what he needed. I explained, and she updated the information her end. She then put me through to a Supervisor, who again was very sympathetic, and said that she would try the doctor first. I said that it’s probably lunchtime. No joy. She reconfirmed what hubby needed, and is sending it over to the referral office. She is hoping that they can expedite the okay for him to have it, and if that is the case it should be 72 hours. If not it can take up to 14 days. I said that we have been waiting longer than that already.
While I had her on the phone, I asked about Covid vaccines, and she could only give me the websites I already have.
So it’s wait, and continue to wait, for what hubby is entitled to.
