I am okay

I had a panic attack this morning, and luckily my neighbor Ann had come over for cauliflower cheese I had made last night. She couldn’t make it then.

I told her I am sitting down as I am passing out. She was worried as I didn’t come round for 2 minutes
She stayed with me giving me sips of water. I managed to slide over and crawl onto the recliner. Haven’t moved. I have been having saltine crackers and water.

When we had the restaurant and after every time Len went into hospital around 3 weeks later I would have a panic attack. I haven’t had full blown one in around 5 years this bad and that was when Len collapse on the floor, and had the gangrene gallbladder. He was in ICU for ten days, in a room for several more, and then rehab.

I have had these since I was 7 or 8. Unfortunately they are part of my life. It is 3 weeks today since Len passed away, so I should have realized it would happen.

I am not doing anything today apart from resting.

  2. I started having panic attacks or anxiety attacks when I hit menopause. I learned a deep breathing technique, also I whistle and hum when I feel one coming, or I sing -loudly and terribly wrong. 🙂

  3. My girlfriend wrote a book on this subject, and I was mentioned. I am the only one she knows that passes out. I do all the breathing techniques. Boxing I use them too. It’s rare they happen as I always knew that I was Len’s full time caregiver, and warded them off. Mine started at age 7.


  4. Sounds like you must hyperventilate. I don’t really know what panic attacks are. Some girls was referring to them on a show that I watch and her blood pressure goes up. I always assumed it means you can’t think straight. Good thing your friend came over

  5. You’ve been so busy taking care of business, that it’s not surprising you’d hit a wall of some sort sooner or later … so glad you had a friend who could be there for you. 🙂

  6. I too can have panic attacks. Fortunately not as bad as you but not fun. I am so glad you had someone to help. I have had a couple of days where I could feel myself stressing but was able to work through it. I am glad you did the yoga-like breathing class. Maybe something like that each day for about 15 minutes would help. It does help me.

  7. I hope you are doing much better Susie as I write this. I’m sorry to hear about your panic attacks and Len. Focus on what gives you joy and I will keep you in my prayers.
