I met my friend Brenda at IHOP late afternoon, and we had a meal together, which was lovely. She had dressed up for the Eagles, and I wanted to go back, but didn’t want to at the same time. If she hadn’t have been with me, there is no way I would have gone.
The moment I walked in, the bartender came and gave me a hug, and then others came over, I was really struggling to hold back the tears. I then passed another friend, who had contacted me, and asked if there was anything she could do. I talked to her, and the tears started flowing.
I headed to a table, and Brenda went up, and got us a drink each. Then it started, people coming over and asking where Len was. I had to repeat myself as they couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Ladies came up, and held my shoulders, rubbed my back, etc. The tears were pouring down my face, and I still don’t know how I managed to stay there.
Brenda and I stayed for around an hour listening to the band, and we got up for 2 dances. Then I said that I was ready to leave. Next time, hopefully it will get easier walking through the door.
With Len being President, Trustee, and Chaplain, and me volunteering right up until he needed me with him, I know how much we were/are loved. He was a life member too, and proud of his Gold card.
