People were able to see their homes, or piles of rubble today, where their homes were. They were ferried over in boats. 😢

Sanibel Island is my happy place. I fell in love with the island the first time my husband and I visited in 1986. I was pregnant with my daughter …
Sanibel Strong
That and Captiva Island…seashell capitols of Florida. Hard to believe…

Sanibel was wiped out in Andrew. I don’t know if it will ever come back now.

I’m glad you are alright. I’m so sad for so many who lost it all…. 😢

Thanks for sharing my post! I did see on the news that they are now allowing residents access to the beach, by boat. The temporary repairs on the causeway are supposed to be done by the end of October. That will help, if it happens!

My girlfriend and I had a trip planned to go for the first time this weekend. Sadly that won’t be happening.

My family visited when I was a child and I remember all the shells and how beautiful it was. Sad that it got hit so hard.
